Justin and Marc's World Extravaganza
Bangkok, Thailand
Right, having only just found out about this service we\'re going to have to cram 17 days into one single entry for Thailand, despite being to Bangkok, Khao Sok National Park (Surat Thani Province) and Koh Samui.....but here goes.
Came out 17 days ago into the blistering smog of midday Bangkok...it was here that we were first ripped off into paying 700 baht to get from the airport to our hotel...although it seemed like a good idea at the time - they\'re very nice!!!With everything sorted a rest was in order and then out to check out \'our\' area - the famous Siam Square!!! Good shopping, but not like Chatuchak Market that we did the next day - all under a giant plastic roof with anything you want to buy....did i mention that it can all, i mean ALL be reduced in price for you - haggling is the way forward, and marc will be first to agree, managing to save almost 200 baht on a shirt and then getting a watch for nothing!!! it has to be seen to be believed! The next day was spent doing the various \'wats\' - temples to you guys out there....these are very interesting (46m golden buddha in Wat Pho!!), especially as it was poring with rain adn you have to take you shoes off to go into one- AND DON\'T POINT YOUR FEET AT THE BUDDHA! Supper at MBK centre which was really good - they really get to know you in one visit - and really cheap which is always nice! We also did Siam Square, Pantip Plaza and the expensive Emporium Shopping Centre...we also managed to use the tuk tuks (always go lower with the prices), taxis (use meters), river ferries (already cheap) and the canal ferries...oh, and the saweng i think whcih is a nother taxi.
Overnight bus to Khoa Sok National Park - beautiful place....get the day trip to Chieow Lan Lake for amazing karst scenery, a 1 hour trek in a cave with water up to your neck (plus bats, spiders and giant frogs on you hand!), and 10m cliff jumping - we like to think it was 10m anyway...really friendly people at our place, Our Jungle House, with excellent food...Klaus is ermmm entertaining?
After that we hopped onto a bus to Koh Samui for 5 nights...Chaweng beach is very touristy, really good weather, but the bed bugs bite so we recommend you get drunk to ensure a full nights sleep....it worked for us - Chang beer is 6.4 percent and is the cheapest so its the best to go for. Hired out motorbikes/scooters....really good fun and an amazing wayto see the island...also I did bungi jumping!!! 50m which isn\'t much but was freaky anyway - and for only 1900 baht (26 quid) not a bad investment!?! I had food poisoning for the black moon party but Marc went with a dutch guy called Boss and an Isreali whos name we forget - music was really good, almost 5000people there, many many many many many thai girls grabbing anywhere available on the male body....we recommend Mango\'s Bar, very good music there, just next to the cabaret if thats what your into?! we didnt go tho! thats about it for a shortenned version - could spend a lot more time in thailand though, next update will be from Singapore where wer\'re staying with Marc\'s family...cya
