To quote the great Sidney Dean when he decided to drop some knowledge on Billy Hoyle:
"This is outdoor ball. It's different than your country club sh*t. When you shoot, you adjust for the wind... the wind can push the ball two inches. You wouldn't know about that."
Still, it all sounds like a blast to me.

I like how you have to solve a math question to submit a post.

Make use of that gorilla pod yet? Take some pics around the ship. I'm curious to see what the cabins, classrooms, etc. look like.

jayson, i'm sorry to hear about how difficult it is to play basketball in the wind. i finna "rock" my new basketball shoeuues tomorrow morning at the YMCA. i have buyer's remorse because a week after i submitted my order online, champs decided to have a sale of 20% off $90 or more. i was going to buy two pairs and return one with the label that they sent to me -- but i decided against it because i felt as though it would be a waste of postage. it snowed in nc and that caused the delay in my shipping, but thanks to your recommendations, i am finally ready to bomb on some middleschoolerz.

pretty much they have YEARBOOKS on the ship??? nice how my pic is above the shot of the boys crotches. that was "sea orimpics" btw.

jj...love the new camera skills. Not sure if it's you or the equipment or both, but they look great nonetheless. btw, my sincerest sorry for the ravens. i was rootin for some ed reed and flacco action since you know how i feel about roethelisheseaseberger(just jealous that he and rivers graduated same class and he has 2 super bowl appearances and refuses to wear moto helmets).
i drove to b'more last friday to stop by the office and thought of you and the folks and made plans in my head for how i will move into your room and re-arrange all your stuff. get rid of all your sports junk and put in gingham and lavender tones.
i must say it's pretty cool and exciting that you are experiencing something a little outside your normal environment. when you're done, it'll be cool to reflect on the changes/growth/perspectives/etc.

Wow 80 students? Well I guess you've got plenty of time to remember everyone's names. Do any of them know about your blog? (Meaning, can you post funny stories about them or will they bust you?) Great to get these glimpses of your voyage!
Joshua
jcha. i miss you already! i'm sitting here reading this after spending the last 10 hours in RA training. jealous might be an appropriate word right now about now. btw...did you know that you and carol were both on the same island in the bahamas this past weekend? you should have called her to watch the game! can't wait to read about all your adventures. be safe.

Jason - I didn't even know you were going on the voyage this semester! Simon is wonderful and is also not the best about relaying information about happenings/updates in our friends lives How exciting! I looked at your pictures and it looks so beautiful. I am very excited about our voyage and can't wait to hear about your experience. If you have any pointers as you go along, feel free to pass it along. Your blog about sea sickness just confirmed for me that I need to take drummamine with me. Wish we could have sailed together, but I am just happy for you to be experiencing this. Keep us updated! Hugs.

J Cha!
I was just thinking the other day, J Cha must be about to start his voyage. I can't wait to see and read all about it. Safe travels and thank you for letting me share in this with you. Btw, I was wondering if you got to witness history on Tueday...what a time we live in!

Jason- you're at sea! How exciting! I can't wait to follow your journey and hear your stories. I absolutely loved your Miami sunset pic...stunning...keep 'em coming (and, yes, you'll be glad you brought that extra lens-no doubt!)
