Mexico City, Oaxaca, Capulalpam - 7th - 16th November 2008
So then, we're off on our 2 year adventure, first stop Mexico City! First impressions not great, huge sprawling city with buildings as far as the eye can see...fast food and fatties around every corner - not the quaint, colourful Mexico we had dreamt of.
After a few days exploring the city and taking in the best bits, we headed to Oaxaca, a smaller town to the south east. What a relief - this is a quaint town with beautiful markets, friendly inhabitants and interesting things to see and do. We spent a few days chilling out and totally unwinding before taking ourselves on a 3 day expedition to a small town in the mountains...off the Gringo Trail...to a place called Capulalpam.
What an idyllic place this is. A tiny village surrounded by misty mountains with fresh water rivers and pumas living locally. We stayed in a magical spot - a cabin on a hillside overlooking the valley, complete with a roaring open fire and marvellous view of the sunset - all for just 15 squid a night - bargain!
