We were very glad to get to Tom Price after our hot night and day at Karijini. This morning we left Port Hedland and made our way to Karijini National Park. We arrived in Port Hedland rather early in the day and booked in at the BIG 4 . People told us that we would have trouble getting a caravan site, so we took the first place we saw, it was $52 for the night but at least we had a place to stay. Most people in the park were mine workers so they were permanant, the park was putting in a lot of units so business is obviously going well. After leaving Broome we drove to Eighty Mile Beach which is ninety miles long, (apparently it used to be called Ninety Mile Beach). We had a 10km drive up a dirt road and we wondered where this place was, we got to the top of a rise and there it was beautiful turquoise water.
