Gillian and Jonny's festival of fun
Finally made it to country number 7, Uruguay! We spent 9 days in Buenos Aires as there was so much to do and we enjoyed the good food, makes a change from the other SA countries. We had our last dinner with friends in a lovely posh (cheap cheap) restaurant called Lomo and then packed our growing bags!! The ferry from Buenos Aires to Colonia (uruguay) took 3 hrs. We couldve got the 1hr one but it cost twice as much. The ferry was gorgeous and nicer than any we had used in Canada. The border crossing was the most straightforward yet as they syamped us out of Argentina and the next desk into Uruguay. We stayed in Colonia for 3 nights and loved the cobbled streets, cosy cafes, international cuisines, looking at the sea and the many individual gift shops. The bus from Colonia to here took 3.5 hrs and as usual poor Jonny sat in front of 2 kids sharing a seat and kicking his chair. We are only spending 2 nights here and then get a night bus to Rio Alegre in Brazil. We wanted to stop somewhere else but there are not many bus route options from here so we had to change our plans, as you do. Tmrw we will have a wander around the shops and go to some museums and galleries. Ciao x
