Our drive from Yala along the south coast revealed some lovely beach areas. We stopped at Weligama to enjoy some rotti for lunch - vegetable as well as banana and honey - they were delicious. We also stopped to see the stilt fishermen. Unfortunately this is not necessarily the way they fish now but more of a show for tourists.
We arrived in Galle and saw the cricket stadium as we entered the fort walls. All along the coast it's been hard to imagine the devastation that the 2004 tsunami created in this area.
We are staying at a small hotel inside the fort called The Fort Printers. It's probably our nicest hotel so far, we're in a big room with high ceilings and dark shutters. All buildings inside the fort cannot be modified greatly and must maintain a certain look.
Last night we went out for a stroll around the fort walls - being Sunday it was alive with people enjoying the breeze and the views. We walked around to the lighthouse, the clock tower and to get views of Galle Cricket stadium.
We had received some recommendations for places to go for dinner and went to a small restaurant called Lucky Fort where you get ten different curries and rice for 950 rupees. This is enough for two people. One curry was quite spicy but the others were very tasty.
This morning we went for a walk outside the fort and into town to see the market area and other shops. We were back into hot and humid weather and came home drenched and looking for a swim in the pool! We also checked out the local restaurants deciding where we eat dinner tonight.
After our morning walk we've been quite lazy this afternoon, enjoying our hotel courtyard.

Susan This sounds really lovely. In honor of your trip, my son and I had curry at the Sitar restaurant the other day. =)
