Split, Croatia
What a way to explore the beautiful islands of Dalmatia, Croatia! We arrived in Split after a pleasant ferry trip from Ancona, Italy and after what was supposed to be a "200m / 10 minute walk" (was actually a half our strenuous trek uphill with our increasingly heavy packs) we arrived at our hostel. Went to cool off at a rocky beach where the fish were nibbling at my mosquito bitten legs... but the water was lovely.
Hostel had much to be desired but it wasn't the dodgy bathroom that got to poor Ads, it was the scary old lady that wandered the halls at night following us to the bathroom and rambling to herself... I woke up to Adam in the middle of the night trembling and frozen with fear... because he was having nightmares of this crazy lady standing at our balcony staring at us. Haha I have never seen Ads so frozen with fear... Pretty funny :) (for me anyways)
We set off on our Croatian sailing adventures on board the mighty Viktorija with a crew of 32 of us and Busabout guide (Captain Grantos) The next week consisted of swimming stops in the Adriatic... the clearest most beautiful waters where you can see the ocean floor from 10meters. The water was so warm and lovely. We went to Hvar but didn't spot any celebrities. Hired Scooters around Mijet, traversed the Old town fortress walls in Dubrovnik... (it was about 40o and we were walking 2kms up and down stairs in the stifling heat.... but the views were well worth it! )
Can't forget the crazy bunch of party animals that we couldn't quite keep up with. We had a "I got Fresh in Croatia" street party with all you can drink madness... needless to say "Bloomy" made an appearance. Then when we spent our last night in Omis which is known to be the land of the pirates, we had a pirate and sailor dress up boat party.... a few people ended up walking the plank... or got thrown into the water! Note: Being incredibly hung over and on a rocking ship is not the recipe for a fun recovery for Sailor Jill... :( Me feeling very worse for wear had a nice day of the wobblies.
All in all Croatia was awesome, saw one of the most beautiful sunsets we've ever seen and the islands were amazing! Don't take my word for it and check out our pics...
