Today, I went with some others to Parral, a monastery. It was a pretty decent walk from the center of town. We saw part of it and heard the monks chant before mass.

We had our first excursion today. First, we went to a bodega and were shown the equipment for making wine. Then, we tasted four different wines before lunch. Not a good idea. All of the students were a little tipsy. Afterwards, we went to Coca to see a castle. Really interesting. Then we went to Cuellar to see a castle which wasn't as good as the one in Coca. Classes. Lunch. Classes. Went home to get rid of backpack. Went to welcome dinner with all the students and professors. We tried several typical Spanish dishes including one made of pig's blood and rice. Yuck.

My host mom walked me to school today for orientation at 10:30am. The director of the program Marian gave us a packet with information and then we went on a walking tour of the city. After orientation, we had to go home for lunch which was interesting since we didn't finish our walking tour at the school. At 10:30 pm, all of the students met and talked. We were imitated a few times since we were speaking in English.

So tired. I arrived in Madrid today and waited until noon to meet the rest of the students in the program. We arrived in Segovia at 2:00 pm more or less. We each went home with our host families. I had lunch and then slept the rest of the day since I didn't sleep well on the plane.
