Salto
So after arriving in Salto after a 6hr bus journey on an extremely comfortable bus with sofa bed chairs that facilitated my 3 hr nap, we arrived in Salto at about 6.30pm in the evening. We were then shown our rooms and informed how cheap it was to have a bag of laundry done for us and ready for the morning, so we literally piled the reception desk high with washing! We then headed out to the small gorgeous town of Salto to explore. We walked all the way down to the port and took some beautiful pictures of the sunset, then we took a table outside a really charming restaurant that over looked the port. I had the best meal Ive had yet of salmon in a tomato and herb sauce with rice and roasted vegetables - yum!! Then we chatted over some drinks until it was late and we had sung all the songs we knew in Italian and German! Then we all went to bed early ready for the thermal baths the next day.
That night I couldnt sleep very well as there were some annoying boy racers racing past my window every 3 minutes, I guess theres not a lot to do in small towns, so i put my earplugs in good and tight and managed to blog out so much noise I didnt hear the alarm clock or Susanna trying to wake me up 10 minutes before check-out time! So i quickly threw on my bikini and my beach dress, washed and packed up my gear and made it for the 10.30 bus to the natural thermal baths. We all camped out on a nice shaded part of the grass and headed to the hot baths, and when I say hot I mean the kind of hot baths where if you were at home in the bath you would have to kneel first for a good few minutes, they were boiling...and so was the weather, not a great combination for my energy levels, so after a few hours in the sun and baths I headed in doors for a nice cheap one hour massage followed by a nice 40 minute facial, neeeece!!
After the baths we all piled back on the bus and headed back to the hotel where we picked up our clean laundry, packed our bags and hopped in taxis to cross the border back into Argentina and wait for our 12 hour night bus to Iguassu Falls, one of the highlights of the trip. Our bus was scheduled for 7.30pm, and we arrived at the bus station at 5.40pm so we had a good couple of hours to wait......and that was before it got to 8pm and we found out our bus had been in an accident 25km outside the city and would be delayed further and alas I am still on the computer passing the time at what is now 9.10pm after a couple of hours of Skyping. Sooooo what shall I talk about now???
I know, Ill tell you the plans for the next few days. So after our bus finally arrives and we drive through the night, we should arrive at our hotel in Iguassu Falls tomorrow morning sometime, where we will then head to the falls to view them from the Argentinian side. Renata, our tour guide, who is lovely and also loves to party more than us, is also organising a pool party one of the nights with a another tour group, which should be fun.
So thats probably enough for you to read for one blog entry, so Ill sign off and go and join the big circle our group has created in the middle of the bus terminal and find some more sweets to munch on (read "fruit" at that part, Fi).
Really enjoying our tour of South America and bonding with so many people from so many different countries....and of course viewing the amazing places in such gorgeous weather! :)
Hasta luego,
