Yesterday has to be one of the most amazing trips I've ever taken in my life!
After being picked up from the hotel and taking to our meeting point, I discovered I was in the front seat of the leading 4x4 car (meaning I wasn't going to get an idea of where we were going from the other jeeps in front). We pulled onto the Sand Dunes and had about 5 seconds to put our seatbelts on before the accelerator pedal went fully down and we sped off with sand rushing past my window. I tell you one thing, any rollercoaster ride you have ever been on in your life is nothing compared to this. There's something about sliding sideways and forwards down a steep slope of sand, that not only puts your heart in your mouth but takes your breath away for a good while!
Tariq our driver was CRAZY! I didn't realise the extent of what I'd signed up for until we were sitting vertically on the highest sand dune and one of the other drivers had to pull in front of us at great speed and guide us down - the Germans and Swedish people who were in the back seemed to have gone green when I briefly turned around to check they were all okay. I was laughing but for a good few seconds saw my life flash before my eyes. We carried on after that and found a spot to take photographs as the sunset. We were then entertained by a belly dancer and male dancer covered in lights whilst we had dinner and was definitely a day I will never forget.
I can't believe I've been here nearly a week already and I will be moving on to Sri Lanka tomorrow evening, I've had a fantastic few days here with an Afternoon City tour where my Sri Lankan guide introduced me to "Concrete Jungle" and took me to every sight seeing spot imaginable. He was an interesting tour guide, asking me at 24 why I wasn't married and had my parents not found me a husband! I laughed and politely told him, I was too busy embarking on a trip around the world.
Yesterday really topped it though, I'll never forget that ride and if any of you are ever in Dubai - it has to be on the must do list! I wouldn't want to live here, but it's a fantastic place to come on holiday and I've loved every minute. I have some great pictures but when I tried to upload them earlier today, I had some technical difficulties so I'm afraid this may have to wait until I get to Sri Lanka now - sorry everyone.
Have to run, its 32 degrees here and time I took advantage of the rooftop pool!
Bye for now!
