Had a long lay in today as yesterday's walking round Melbourne had taken its toll. We had wanted to go to Bells Beach, Torquay, which is the other side of Geelong to watch the World Series Ripcurl Pro Surfing competition but it was to be at least a 3 hour journey on Train and Tram each way with no guarantee that we would even see any surfing so we decided it was not worth the effort. Instead we went to St Kilda for the afternoon to see the beach, visit the oldy woldy Luna Park fairground and then back into the city. The tram ride was simple and effective for the round trip and whilst at Luna Park there was a live Rockabilly band that were good quality - Jan was in her element and chatted up the lead singer for a free CD and phone number......
Had a quick wander round the City Centre and again along South Bank where we watched a Bruce Lee like street performer with a Jackie Chan sense of humour - 30 mins of great entertainment. We then stopped for a beer on the little bar on the base stantion of the footbridge over the Yarra in the middle of the river before catching the train back to Hawthorn.
We collected Chloe and then went to a brill Italian for Dinner and Drinks. Another great day has to come to an end. Looking forward to tomorrow as we are going to see local side Hawthorn play West Coast Eagles (Perth), in that confusing game called Aussie Rules Football. Having studied this game on TV I find it very exciting but still think it is a confusing fusion of other games. Can't wait to get inside the MCG to experience the atmosphere. Onwards to Sunday.
