On my way to Fiji we had a stop off at Christmas Island, which was pretty amazing and it he island is made ip of lots of pools and sand banks, the run way was solid but there was grass growing through most of it! And the airport terminal consisted of 2 sheds and a tanker! Through the window I couldnt see any houses or resorts , but several people boarded the plane, still confused to where they were staying!
On arrival at Fiji Airport customs was simple and Visa was fine, however the shuttle I should have taken was no where to be seen! At least it was only a 10dollar taxi ride, which translates to £3. I arrived at Blue Water Lodge which was on the outskirts on Nadi ( the 3rd biggest City in Fiji) and positioned by the beach which was great. This hostel was one of the nicest hostels Id stayed in, todate. I had my breakfast served to me and had real coffee! What a treat! But they could only hold about 15 people and there was only 5 people staying when I was there. Luckily I had only booked 2 nights ( just to find my feet) and in the same area was quite afew other hostels. Everybody else was staying at Smugglers Cove which was right on the beach, so I booked in there whilst I was working out which islands to go to. This had a 30 bed dorm down stairs and several other private rooms upstairs, bar and restaurant. It was a bit crazy in the 30 bed doom but the lady Id met in Hawaii was staying there too so that was nice to know someone already and then I proceeded to meet other people.

Dave / Lucy Hi. Sorry to hijack your blog but we were in Fiji 6 months ago and by chance came across the most fantastic place called Dolphin Bay Dive Resort just off Taveuni. Don't be put off by the dive reference as although it is a great dive facility, neither of use dive and we had the best time ever. If you have a few days, we really recommend it. We travelled a bit around Fiji and it was the best we found. Kind regards
