hello hello! can't think of anything to say except for the fact that I now appear to be writing my boss' PhD. right.
ooh, plus thought i'd put up some photos for anyone that's ever wondered what my nemesis or malaria man looks like...
tata, jess xx
Hello all! Hope you've managed to survive January, which always seems to be one of those months that just draaaaaaags. Having finished the hideousness of the tax exemption (I might have ranted at a few of you about that, sorry) there was a hectic 10 days or so with lots of project proposals, lots of reading on reproductive tract infections, STDs (or STIs in India - I confused a lot of people by using the word 'STD' to refer to sexually transmitted disease, whereas in South Asia it means 'local call'. Hence all the 'Get Your Local STD Here' signs we saw all round Nepal), and lots of work (including Jess' first UN proposal, Jess' first successful proposal, Jess winning a government grant, renovation of the mosquito/rat flat and other such exciting things). Now we've hit a bit of a boring patch while we wait for the oh-so-slow India world to catch up - if there's a meeting one week and someone says 'I'll get back to you on Monday', you might be forgiven for thinking he meant next week. But no! Not that Monday. Not that Monday the week after either. Maybe Monday the week after that? No, silly! Friday night at 9pm, by which point everything has shut down for a national holiday for three days so we start all over again. Anyhoo, Jess has some time on her hands (she's meant to be writing her boss' PhD, but she's still not convinced she's happy doing that) so she thought it would be blog/email time.Added fun being that our Treasurer, after basically squatting in our office for 3 months paying no rent, and then trying to move into my flat whilst I was away for a few days, has subsequently jumped ship after we had to forcibly turn out his staff and all his equipment from my flat because they were refusing to let the renovators in. craziness. Anyway now he's run off somewhere and we can't do anything because he's a main signatory. eek. More on that as it develops.Missing you all madly, of course - but very very pleased so many are following the family and visiting Jess-in-India xx
