With another hangover and new drinking games learnt I'm laying on an even more amazing beach than Nice. More hot men too lol! I had a wicked first day in Barcelona! My hostel's really cool and I'm so happy to be back in one and not in a hotel. I hung around the hostel for a while then headed out to explore.
I started with the famous building Sagrada Familia and then pretty much walked for 4 hours. I went along Barcelona's version of Champ Élysées, with loads of designer shops. At the end of that road was an amazing fountain with gardens, statues and benches all around. Then on to La Rambles the famous street here. It was great and had an amazing atmosphere. Loads of souvenir shops and stalls, as it's nearly the end of my trip it was great to get some presents :)
La Rambles leads in to the port and an enormous statue of Christopher Colombus on a column. The port was pretty, palm trees everywhere. I was gonna start making my way round to the beach but it was nearly 7 and it was pretty cloudy. I headed back to the hostel, looking forward to my free dinner :) I was struggling to meet anyone here at first, I knew I had a room mate but I hadn't seen him, I knew it was a him by the dirty trainers left in the room lol
Eventually dinner time came and we all sat round a table about 15 of us. We all just got talking and arranged drinking games for after dinner. There were so many of us and so much fun. The new game I learnt was called Riding The Bus and it wasn't belong before we all ran out of alcohol. It was coming up to midnight and a guy that works there recommended we go to a club called Apollo where they have a Nasty Mondays party. We called cab's and off we went! Now I don't get out of Romford much and this club was awesome, it was like something from the movie Kevin & Perry Go Large when they r in Ibiza! They played so many old and new classics, ones that no matter where ur from, u just know. It was just a pretty epic night.
It got to about 3.30 and I was soooo hot, I needed to get out, well ur not allowed to go outside unless you leave so me and Alex from Holland said bye and left. We went for a wander in any direction with the aim of getting a cab when we got bored. Well we ended up at The Magic Fountain, it's massive and at weekends they have Las Vegas style lights and music to the fountain. We realised we could walk from there it's just one straight road. Anyway we got home at 5! I slept in until 12 today, the latest yet but well needed. I'm having a beach day although I didn't get down here until 3 lol
I'm staying until Thursday morning now, I don't see the point of going to Madrid for 3/4 of a day. I've booked another night at the hostel and will leave really early Thursday with the aim of getting back to Paris in 1 day so I'm there to catch my Eurostar on Friday.
I had decided I wanted to explore some more 2morro but this beach is sooo tempting, I'll have to juggle both I think!
No sign of my Australian friends from Nice who r here too, oh well, still got another day!
Omg!!! A massive sandstorm just kicked everyone off the beach! It's actually quite painful, I found out the hard way. It came out of no-where and everyone was screaming and running like a disaster movie!
So I'm back at the hostel now already thinking about dinner which isn't for another hour and a half. I'm re-packing my bag, again, cos I have to switch rooms in the morning. And I've had a thought....it's amazing what you can put a pair of jeans through...where would we be without denim! Lol
