Top deck, window seat and going forwards = Winning!!!
Managing to get a ticket to Barcelona at Montpellier station for today = Double Winning!!!
So as the title suggests, I am on a train to Barcelona, soon to cross the Spanish border. I feel I've achieved at winging it today. Without a train to anywhere other than Montpellier and no where to stay, it was a daunting start to the day but I was confident it would all work out.
I've found when I sleep in hotels I have a lot of trouble getting up, considering I've normally got a breakfast booked, that's pretty impressive lol. Maybe it's because I'm alone or it could simply be because it's more comfy. Yet again another confirmation that I prefer hostels!
I left my hotel this morning after a yummy breakfast and made my way to the station. I'll be honest although I'm getting further today than I have so far, not much has happened. I've had some really nice train journeys full of reading and listening to music. I have had 3 main thoughts while I've been on the trains.
1. I miss singing, when I have my music on on the train I want to sing like I do in my car!
2. Being on trains gives me too much time to think, sometimes good, sometimes not so much!
3. Trains make me sooooo sleepy, it's so easy to sleep on trains, which is another reason they are so much better than planes. But it does mean I try to read and get too sleepy, then I put my music on and promptly fall asleep. Regardless of how much sleep I've had or what time of day it is! Mostly it's ok because I'm going to the last stop but not today, I had to change twice. I even had to kill an hour in Marseille AGAIN! I swear it's cos I didn't really like it there that I have to keep changing trains there.
When I finally arrived at Montpellier I braved the ticket counter knowing my chances of them speaking English was slim here, I could just tell. My thoughts were confirmed but I just about managed to tell her I wanted to go to Barcelona and show her my Interrail pass. She said today and printed my tickets, explained well enough for me to understand times and where I had to change. So that's how I ended up on my train to Barcelona!
I just have to find somewhere to stay when I get there, which is a little nerve wracking for a couple of reasons.
1. It's going to be nearly dark when I get there.
2. No-one is likely to be at the station to help me because of the time.
3. Stations so far have been the roughest area's I've been in.
I'm just gonna look for the nearest hotel sign outside the station and go from there! I'll let you know how I get on.
I'm super comfy in my hotel but craving a hostel that's ridiculous right. I'm gonna spend the next few hours finding a cool hostel for 2morro and Tuesday!
Not much else to say really, I have a cool balcony and it's 27C lol! I'll put some pictures up later.
Night :)

jessicawoollard The plan is Madrid but I might stay here longer, just seems silly to stay here for too long and not see any more of Spain. But if I have as much fun as in Nice I'm not moving! Lol
