Punto Ahuano- 8:50 PM
Today was a day of extremes, weather wise. We started the day out at the hot springs resort. Mimi went on a hike this morning at 6:30 but I chose to sleep in. I ended up waking up a little after 7:30.
We got up and had a breakfast buffet. I've been enjoying having eggs every morning and the fresh fruit has been awesome, too.
We got on the bus and left around 8:45. It was probably in the low 50's when we left. We were leaving an elevation of 10,500 feet and going down to just 1,500 feet in the Amazon. Our first photo stop was to see the "Tres Marias," which are 3 really nice waterfalls in the middle of a lush landscape.
We made another stop along the way to take pictures of the valley below us. Everything was very green and there were a bunch of trees referred to as "broccoli" trees because they all look like the tops of broccoli. We also noticed the oil pipeline throughout the beautiful scenery- it was such a contrast. Fun fact- at a local gas station, gas cost $1.48 a gallon! I took a picture as proof!
We continued our 3 1/2 hour drive toward our hotel as I took naps off and on... I blame the elevation for being tired and hungry often on this trip... Though I'm not too sure if that's a legitimate excuse.
