After a 1 hour delayed flight from Sac, I finally made it into LAX around 10:05. I had to pick up my luggage from baggage claim before checking into my AirChina flight.
The baggage claim was a hot mess. I had to wait about 10 minutes for my flight's carousel to be assigned. Then, of course, I was one of the last people to pick up my bag. (This is my luck almost every time I travel!)
After walking up and down the stairs and going in circles 3 times, I finally asked someone how to get to terminal 2, which is where I was told by a Southwest employee that AirChina was located. I was told to go outside and walk next door. I made it to terminal 2 but did not see a sign for AirChina. I was told to go back down at the front end of the terminal. I swore I was losing my mind because I went by each counter and none of them said AirChina. After working up a sweat, I asked an official looking airline guy in a suit where to go. He directed me to Thomas Bradley terminal (???) which was another few minutes walk from where I was.
Thank God I'm a runner. I started to run in my flip flops down the sidewalk, not because I was late but because I hadn't yet selected my seat for my flight and I really wanted a window seat.
I got to the international terminal and after some wandering I found the AirChina counter. There was no line so I immediately got checked in, got my window seat, and gave my United Mileage number so I could get mile credit for my trip to Europe next year. (You gotta always plan ahead!)
After making it through a long security line, I found my gate and I found dinner: Panda Express! I'm now waiting another hour or so to get on my 12 hour and 40 minute flight to Beijing, before eventually ending up in Shanghai. By the time I get in to Beijing, it will be Friday morning at about 5:30. I don't really get very much of a Thursday!
I think I'll walk around the shops one more time before we board. Nitey nite!
