Chiang Mai, Thailand
So the beginning of my trip... Chiang Mai, northern Thailand. As soon as I arrived I could feel the incredible heat in the air. 41 degrees... Ouch! With no beaches around, air conditioning is my only saviour.
I checked into my hostel late afternoon and went for a walk to a couple of temples close by. Amazing buildings, so ornate! Big Buddha statues inside for all to pray to, monks chanting - a very peaceful mood.
Then back for dinner at the night bazaar which was the best pad Thai ever for about $2! Yummmmm. Early night tonight, getting ready for more temple and city exploring tomorrow!
Up early for a day around the city, more temples, more great food. Wat doi suthep which is the highest temple in Chiang Mai, sits overlooking the city. 306 steps to reach the main temple, well worth the climb! Everything drenched in gold, it's a very spectacular sight.
I then went to a local village not too far away, looked through the markets and a gorgeous flower garden.
Back for a drink and another great feed with a few people I met at the hostel.
