We arrived back in Bangkok for the third time during the festival of Songkran, which is the Buddhist New Year. It was just a city wide water fight! We didn't realise how crazy it would be and how wet we would be because we spent our first day in the Pargon Shopping Centre going to the Imax cinema and to the Aquarium and doing a little bit of shopping! We only went there because it was so hot and humid, and the air con was top notch! The shopping centre itself is incredible, it makes Selfridges look like TKMAX! Anyway, we got a cab back to Th Kao San where we were staying, and we had been outside the taxi for about 10 seconds and we were completely drenched from head to toe, and covered in sticky powder type stuff! After that, we decided the only way to survive the water festival was to join in. We bought 2 big water guns and spent the day outside with about a gazillion other people having a massive water fight! It was great fun, and not something that we are likely to experience again!
We left Bangkok on the third day of Songkran and caught a bus to Kophangan, which is an amazingly beautiful Island just off the coast of Thailand. When we arrived it was pretty quiet so stayed in the infamous party resort of Haad Rin. We managed 3 nights there and then decided to head to a place called Bottle Beach on a number of recommedations! It was officially the most beautiful beach we had ever seen. The water was crystal clear and really still, and the sand was so white and fine... sorry to make you all jealous! We just sunbathed and relaxed for 5 days and then we decided to head back to Haad Rin for our last week in Thailand. All we did was sunbathe and watch Friends at one of the local bars, and we discovered a new favourite food... chicken schnitzel sandwiches! The last 3 days on Kophangan were a bit of a let down, the weather was terrible, all it did was rain continuously and very heavily, but we still went to the beach!
We left Kophangan the day before the full moon party which we were both a bit disappointed about because they're supposed to be the best parties ever, but we wanted to come to Kuala Lumpur for a night before meeting Kate in Singapore. We arrived here after a very long and annoying journey, but love it. We spent the day walking around, and went up the KL Tower, which is the fourth hightest telecom tower in the world. The view was fantastic, you could see all of the city and the mountains. We're sad that we don't have more time here, but are both really looking forward to Singapore and meeting Kate, it's a shame that our time in Asia is practically over, but we'll both definately be coming back.
