Hola!
So we're back in Puerto Viejo which we love and are still having a great time! Since last time we've all seen turtles laying eggs on the beach and as there are fewer volunteers this week we've been able to get more involved. We feel like we've done a LOT of walking along the beach though so we're definitely getting some exercise (makes a change!). Yesterday we went to Punta Mona which is a really pretty place to swim. We've been told not to swim close to where we live because of the 'angry ocean' but the sea is much calmer further along the beach and the water is warmer.
Earlier on in the week Andrey took us on a boat trip around the nearby lagoon which was awesome as we saw lots of wildlife including a sloth and her baby, a racoon, a baby caiman and many colourful birds and insects.
We had our day off last Monday when we just relaxed in the hammocks and hit the bar in the evening which was rather entertaining as all the Costa Rican boys wanted to teach us salsa so we barely sat down!
As you can see from the photos we've also been playing some more sport (shocking!) and Emma scored a point in volleyball which was quite an achievement seeing as generally we couldn't get the ball over the net. After a couple of games we gave up and decided that watching the boys play was a much better option!
Hatti decided to stay in Gandoca today as people from the local school are hosting a football match which she wanted to watch. Emma and Jess however decided that shopping was much more important.
We leave on Saturday morning to go back to San Jose for the night before our flight to Lima on Sunday. Although we don't really want to leave, we're looking forward to our last night here as it's the start of Semana Santa (their Easter festival week) so there'll be a massive party in the bar- wooh!
Hope everyone's well!
Lots of love,
Emma, Jess & Hatti
