Made pretty good time from Venice to Florence today, I much prefer highway driving, but the toll prices here are through the roof. Seriously like $20, its such a rip off. But they have these "Auto-Grill" places all along the highways and they are like a mix between a 7/11 servo, acafe and a supermarket all in one, and you dont have to pay to use the bathroom (more common then you would think in Italy).
Anyway, we made it our hotel with the afternoon to spare, so we braved the bus into the city and basically got lost in the city. Saw the beautiful old bridge (Ponte Vecchio), Old mate Dave and a pretty fantastic Cathedral. Yes, I know, Italy is FULL of amazing churches and Cathedral's, but the Duomo is simply breathtaking.
Its late October so the weather is starting to get colder, mostly just wind during the day and a bit cooler at night/first thing in the morning, but so far no rain (woohoo). Hopefully it stays like that for the next week or so, it sucks travelling in the rain.
Seen as though we pretty much conquered Florence in an afternoon, we will do a tour tomorrow of Pisa, Tuscany and Siena.
