Ok, so where does one start! We left Dover at 5.50am Saturday morning (2hrs earlier than scheduled) which is a vast improvement on last year... which as we all know was a grand spanking 23hrs later! Saturday was a very long and hot day, with lots of fresh air (and diesel) stops, however 11hrs later "you have reached your destination" was announced! The last few hours were through the Pyrenees which were pretty damn spectacular and the last half hour of the journey went on forever! Our home for the next 2 nights was in St Vicenc de castellet ..... and the apartment was colourful, quirky & cosy just how we like them to be! We all slept like logs! The day had been mentally exhausting... Sunday was to be physically exhausting whilst we blitzed BARCELONA! We did the sights by tourist bus, the best way to see all the sights when you have little people! Barcelona has a real relaxed feel for a city and to look at, it's like many others but with a soft lense kind of feel.. and thanks to Gaudi, some pretty amazing structures! We're not the biggest big city fans, but some you just have to see rather than want to! Any advice, if you go on the tourist buses... they have 3 routes to fit it all in, however if you change routes...you will at some point have to go round the first all over again, to get back to where you started! (Especially if one needs to find one's car!) Finished the night off with dins in the Hard Rock Cafe! Another must do, just for the atmosphere and simply to add to one's portfolio of Hard rocks around the world! Another late night, We said farewell to our first little home and set off for Moncofa, with rather too high expectations! Unfortunately, the host here is reliant on others as he is UK based, so the apartment hadn't been cleaned and the gas and hot water had been disconnected! Shame really as it has great potential! After lots of deliberation and cogitation we have decided to stay put... We have been given a full refund with the option to stay anyway, so gonna think of it is simply a base and use the money to eat out! Despite the disappointment and a minor melt down on my part we still managed to sample some sangria, eat an entire watermelon between us and have a swim in the sea! Wonder what Ho hum is in espanyol?
