First whole day in Nice and we were rather excited. Headed down to breakfast which was in the garden and it was gorgeous. The lady who owns the house is lovely, very friendly and welcoming and showed us round her home. All of the art work she had around the house was made by herself and her family were lovely too. They even have a cat- well it's more like a small tiger but still very cute! Nice buffet breakfast- there were chocolate bun rolls which made Ellie happy. We had chosen to go to Villefranche for the day so hopped on the bus outside the hotel and before we knew it we had arrived. Gorgeous place with a long beach stretching round the coastline. We had to walk a short way through the town but was a nice walk through little shops and cafés and restaurants. Got to the beach and found a good spot to sunbathe. Sea was lovely and cool and just what was needed as was scorching! After a while our taste buds were wanting a drink so sat by the sea and had a beer and then wandered through the town to grab some lunch and look in some of the shops. We went back for more sunbathing and then had to catch the bus back. That was a bit of a mission as we couldn't get the bus where we were told at the time we wanted it so had to walk back up through the town and then wait for a bus to come along. First bus was packed and we couldn't fit so had to wait for the next. Still rather cramped but managed to fit. When we got home we got showered and changed and headed for the bus stop again to visit Monaco. However after narrowly missing the first bus we decided to leave Monaco for tomorrow as we would end up getting there too late etc so instead we wandered into the Old Town part of Nice to find dinner. We found a lovely square with lots going on markets selling some interesting bits and bobs. After going to a few different restaurants to find somewhere that sold Prosecco (yes we haven't had enough) we finally found somewhere although service was rather slow. Afterwards we bought some pick and mix sweets (big kids at heart) and strolled back to our apartment. Straight to bed tonight... Big day tomorrow :-)
