Had an energetic day today- filled up with breakfast and hired a bike to see the sights of Salzburg. The two guys we met yesterday were also hiring bikes so we set off together. We visited Mirabell Gardens and were desperate to re- enact scenes from the Sound of Music but managed to restrain ourselves. Went over the river and went to the main town square where we went into Salzburg Museum (waste of €4 and valuable time in the sunshine)! Went to find some lunch (again difficult to find anything substantial other than cake and cafe type places). Ellie and I then went for our own sightseeing tour and cycled quite far through the city and out the other side and we got a great view of the mountains :-) very tired legs came back, had dinner at the hostel (schnitzel) and then we went back out to see part of the classical music festival that was going on. It was Romeo and Juliet the opera played on a big screen with hundreds of people watching. It was very surreal to be watching opera in such a beautiful setting with the fortress above too. Lovely final evening in Salzburg.
