This was not the best start to the road trip portion of our trip.
Got a cab to the M60 bus pick up point to get to the LaGuardia airport to catch the shuttle to our car rental company.
There was so much traffic that some of the people on the bus would have missed their flights.
The shuttle driver could not understand why there was so much traffic.
We got on the road in our Mazda 3 only to hit a wall of traffic with the GPS taking us back through areas that we had come through. Finally got out of NYC and stopped for a late lunch at Taco Bells.
Not long after we hit the road again we hit traffic jam after traffic jam on the interstate highway.
It took us 7 hours to get to our accommodation in Winthorp (today's pic is a block from our accommodation) near Boston. The original GPS estimate was 3 hours 20 minutes. It is a Labour Day weekend coming up but this is Thursday!
Grabbed our coats and got directions for the bus and trains to get back to Fenway Park to see the Boston Red Sox play the Baltimore Orioles. The bus didn't arrive so (as the game had already started) we got a cab to the game ... did I mention the traffic!
Grabbed some greasy food (as you do) and found our seats. Great seats excepted that we were sitting behind a pylon so we could not see the batter or the catcher!!
Three people to our left went somewhere so when they didn't come back we moved up.
The Park was built in the early 1900's and still has many of the original fixtures - very nice. The whole place was buzzing. Balls going everywhere into the audience (and one bat too). People singing and dancing. Food sellers walking up and down the aisles with boxes on their heads calling 'hot dogs', 'pretzels' or 'soda'. Cotton candy on long sticks. If you buy something in a bag, they pitch it to you; and the money gets passed along the row from the buyer to the seller. Everyone is very obliging.
Caught the trains and bus back to Winthrop and crawled into bed around 12:30am.
What a fun night!
