Sorry its taken me so long to update this we have been busy exploring and only spending short amounts of time online. Since Krabi in Thailand we went to a lovely Island called Koh Lanta where we stayed with the Monkeys which would wake us every morning, they were amazing. The island was beautiful and we didn't want to leave but British nationals only get 30 day visas on arrival so we had to make our way back to Krabi or Phuket where we would hopefully extend our visa. We weren't so keen on Krabi town after spending a couple of nights there, it was an ugly town. So we went back to lovely phuket where we stayed in the same hostel and met up with the restaraunt owner Ton, who was the most helpful and kind person I have met so far on this trip. Ton took us to a night market which was the size of a football pitch, we eat bugs and some other bizarre foods and also did some shopping, the next day she took us exploring the main attractions of Phuket including the waterfall, and all for free! Which is unherd of in Asia, everyone is always after making some money. She became a good friend over the last few days we had there and I was really sad to say goodbye but will stay in touch. Ton learnt to cook in London where she lived for 6 years so her English was great. She gave us a real thai experience. Sadly British nationals can only extend their visa for 7 days, otheriwse for 15 days you have to cross the border overland an come back in or another 30 days you have to fly. I suppose this gave us a reason to leave Thailand because I fell in love with the country and really didn't want to leave but would have missed out on other places if our visas could have been extended. So I have to look on the positive side :).
At this point we decided to fly to Chaing Mai, North Thailand where we could go overland on a 2 day long boat to Laos and then fly into Thailand from Vietnam. We spent a couple of lovely days exploring Chaing Mai and the zoo :D and decided because we were running out of time we quite rapildy we should fly somewhere and go overland and then fly back into Thailand in a months time. So we booked a flight to Hanoi Vietnam returning Jan 17th in Thailand. This meant we could explore Vietnam and Laos before heading back to Thailand, but sadly when we got to the airport a day later to check in we established we couldn't fly because Vietnam visas have to be arranged in advance and we hadn't read this!! A massive learning curve! So because it was our last day on our Thai Visa we booked a flight out to Laos and agreed to return on our flight from Hanoi to Bangkok and only lost the flight out. Very annoying, but our own fault we have seriously learnt from this one and so many other mistakes we have made haha, still not letting anyone trick us though :P.
We have since worked our way up from the capital of Laos Vientiane to Luang Prabang where we are staying put for a while till at least after christmas its really beautiful here and we have the view of the bamboo bridge from our room which is totally amazing. We are staying at the edge of the river Nam Khan. We are having the most amazing time, learning so many things along the way and having a laugh I am also keeping a daily diary, having to be VERY strict with myself but I am sure it will be worth it when I read it back. The sun is shining here every day laste 20s early 30s which is a massive thumbs up, I will miss this weather to death when were back! Hope everyone is well back home and have an amazing christams will update again soon. xxx
