Headed into town to stock up on supplies for our trek of the Gibb River Road. The prices here are exorbitant and we ended up finding the bargains at Woolworths of all places! Little bit hung over but managed to drive to Mataranka where we stopped for a truckers lunch (pie & iced coffee). Travelled the long stretch of road heading toward Daily Waters. One of the roadhouses that we stopped at had alot of character and claimed "the best Barramundi pies, so delicious that you will eat poo" and "our fresh baked bread is so good it will give you an erection". Today we travelled to the Barkly Homestead (and didn't run out of fuel), it is the first pub upon entering and leaving NT. Covered 260km, mostly an uneventful day with no exciting road kill or near misses to report. This mornings drive proved amusing and adventurous for Mel and I today. We randomly passed a horse and cart traveling on the highway, cringed when passing a road train (twice), 'exclaimed in astonishment' when passing two very big, dead Brahmans that had obviously been in a hit and run accident and nervously waited to see how our fuel consumption would go when we realized we incorrectly calculated the distance between the next fuel station.
