Los Angeles - "the City the World Loves to Watch"
I arrived in LA at about 1pm local time after a lovely flight (I had the whole row to myself so managed to sleep lying down in cattle class and watched both Valentine's Day and The Blind Side - happy days!). It took me only 2 hours to navigate customs and then got the shuttle bus to LAX bus terminal. The Lonely Planet guide assured me that LA has a surprisingly good bus system and that more tourists should use it, so I assumed I could get one straight to West Hollywood.
4 buses and 3 hours later I arrived at Orbit hostel! I wandered along Melrose Avenue for dinner and eventually settled on a good old Subway sandwich which I ate in the common room in front of American Deal or No Deal, which is done with models instead of other players - rubbish!
After a blissful 11 hours' sleep I got the bus to Hollywood with 2 girls I met at the hostel - Pippa from New Zealand and Vanessa from Switzerland. I got my nails painted purple as part of a Guinness World Record attempt for most manicures in one day and bought a new pair of American Eagle jeans - I do love their stuff! Vanessa and I got 3 buses back to LAX where we met the lovely Miss Zoe T to check into our Fiji flight and had the most awesome dinner of Sushi Boy Special plate and a large Haagen-Dazs! Then we got on the flight with Hamish, Sive, Harriet and Monique to Nadi, Fiji - it took me ages to work out how long it was with the time difference as we left Thursday 11.30pm and arrived Saturday 5am. I didnt even see 11th June, which means I completely missed Cesca's birthday!
