hi everyone, i've had a nice first week, hanging around in kathmandu on my own and visiting temples mostly. its hot in the day here but chilly at night and will be a lot colder i expect once i get to the mountains! you can only just see them on the horizon here, the air pollution's so bad.

kathmandu is hectic but not too hassly, the dust and traffic fumes are nasty and everyone is coughing and spitting on the street because of it, lovely. there's lots of piles of rubbish which the cows and dogs eat, and beggars and sewage, but its quite friendly and its safe to walk anywhere you like, surprisingly!

i've been to some newari temples (which have lots of roofs) and a buddhist monkey temple where i got scratched by a monkey and had to have rabies shots as a precaution!

i doubt i can get onto the internet as much for the next 2 weeks once i meet up with my trekking group for everest base camp, so i'll be in contact again when i get back to kathmandu at minimum! keep emailing me all the homely talk, i'm loving it. jen xx
