Day 4 at cookery school and Lucy and I are suffering with expanding waistlines. Our chef for the day was Dave. He had is own restaurant in Budleigh Salterton for a while and was born locally but has moved around before coming back to Devon.
It's been another busy day and a variety of new tasks to do and skills to learn.
We made a variety of canapés for our lunch which was fun.
The kitchen porters (there are always two) have been great and work very hard all day. They are mostly quite young but have a lot of patience with us all.
Fortunately there were no 'live' ingredients for me to deal with today but I think there might be some tomorrow!
I have succumbed to buying a set of knives. After trying them for a week I have been convinced - come with a free sharpener which is amazing - I've never been able to cope with a steel.
Having to pack tonight to be ready to leave the accommodation before cooking starts tomorrow and then the long drive home. Back to the old routine soon and the cookery school will be soon in the dim and distant past. Good while it lasted!
