It's Sunday, June 6 and I'm looking at the biggest crowd of people without police present anywhere I've ever seen. Somehow I ended up in Berlin...well actually I know exactly how I ended up there - a four-hour bus ride from Prague - but still sometimes during all the travelling it just sort of hits me...'definitely not in Kansas anymore.' I'm walking with everything I'll need for a couple days strapped to my back when I stumble across a huge outside amphitheater filled with wallflowers and crazy German haircuts. There must be a crowd of 3,000 people singing karaoke from a laptop covered by an oversized umbrella in the center. I suddenly realize the guy running the karaoke to the masses is speaking English - and everyone understands him! I don't, because after all the foreign gabber and trying to translate not in Spanish (which I've discovered I know quite a bit of) but into German or Czech, I've started tuning it all out.
Anyway, spent a few hours in Berlin people-watching, wandering and trying to not feel completely lost in the madness before catching a train to continue the journey. My first impression of Berlin - I'm much smaller than I know.
