So we picked up our upgraded camper and then headed to Coles to buy food ( beans and toast ) we feel like right students. We headed to a campsite because alice springs wasn't too welcoming with police everywhere. The campsite was really nice everyone was friendly. So we booked another night before our flight back.
Saturday we then headed to ayers rock, which I thought would of taken us about 2 or 3 hours. But no 6 with just me driving. When we got there we had to pay $25 which would be a 3 day pass. By the time we got there it was getting late so we parked up took some photos then headed to the resort to find some where to stay for the night cause there is nothing nearby. Luckily there was a spot at the resort so we parked up then we headed to the sports bar where we played a game of pool with some spare coins. ( chris just won)
Sunday we headed back to ayers rock, unluckily the walk up the rock was closed because of strong winds at the top. So we walked around the base which was pretty interesting, then we headed to the centre where we had a wander round then to the shop. The aboriginal art was very exspensive so we headed off to Kate Tjuta which was similar to ayers rock but with trees growing ontop. We went for a gorge walk which took about 45 minutes. Then we headed back up the road to find somewhere to stay for the night. We stopped at curtain spring which had free camping !!! And an emu which wandered about. So we stayed there the night.
Monday we got up and headed to kings canyon which took about 3 hours to get there. Then after lunch we went on a short walk up the canyon. Then headed for our next campsite, we drove past some wild camels ( i didnt know there were camels in oz and especially wild ones, the Freeth family were right) and then headed again on an unsealed road not expecting it to be just sand and bumpy not very comfortable, chris had to take over driving. We went through a dried up river. Eventually we got to our campsite thing well another free site on the side of the road. Everyone was really friendly. Where we once again had beans on fried bread for dinner, yummmmy yum. Then watched a film on Chris's iPod before going to sleep when it was -6 that night.
Tuesday we had a bit of a lie in left at 10 then headed back towards alice springs. We stopped for some petrol at the only one on the way home. We were there for a while waiting for their power to come back on calling the owner and all sorts. We just were walking back to the campervan when the guy from behind the counter told us to come back to see the dingo. We agreed to go back and sat down all looking at a piano. Where the owner walked in with his dingo, he called a young boy up and was told to play the piano. Then all of a sudden the dingo jumped up onto the piano and started hitting the keys and howling. It was hilarious then the guy was telling us stories of him being in the new papers, Telly and films. Even doc Martin has met him. After the whole show we then headed back in the car thinking how strange that was cause we only wanted fuel. Then headed back to the campsite gday mate in alice springs.
Tomorrow we will be up early dropping off our camper then heading off to Perth. Then picking up our next camper from Apollo then driving up to go swimming with the whale sharks.
