On Feb 22nd 2011 I drove myself to a little town called Lewisburg TN to start my life over. Little did I know the journey ahead would lead me to new friendships, great learning experiences, the gift of laughter, and fun adventures in Tennessee. I drove 5 hours from Memphis to get to Buffalo Valley and when I arrived I was frightened to say the least. My GPS was pointing at several white houses and all I wanted to do was turn around but I didnt want what I came from either so I pressed forward. Im so glad that I did. I spent one month in a white house on 2nd Ave where I learned from listening to others, I faced my past that had always seemed to haunt me, I learned the 12 steps and 12 traditions, I built relationships with staff members and fellow clients, I learned structure, I remembered some hidden talents, and so much more. Mostly I learned to love myself again and life again sober. One thing I forgot to learn was patience and after 28 days of treatment I bolted to Chattanooga to a transitional house thinking I was too good for Lewisburg. The double wide trailor with 2 bed rooms and one bathroom did not make me happy. Neither did the rude ladies with house arrest ankle bracelets that lived there. I told the ladies I needed to grab my stuff and I peeled out in their front drive way. I missed Lewisburg and I needed to be back at transitional housing in Buffalo Valley. So with that said.... These are the adventures of my living in recovery :)
