Hello
Since our last blog we have had a couple of chaotic days and have driven many many kms.
Our first stop was Queenstown. This was a gorgeous town which reminded us of Zell am See. The whole area is very similar to the Alps. Whilst there we went on a trip around the lake on a jet boat. It was great fun but we were soaked and it is freezing! The water was perfectly clear and is apparently 98% pure.
After this we went up the Gondola. Rob was slightly scared going up, imagining how we could fall from it! At the top we had two rides on the luge. We both went the scenic route first then Rob did the fast track and came off the ground! Next we passed a reserve that housed Kiwi birds. They are so fat and fluffy! They are nocturnal so we had to see them in a darkened room and be very quiet.
Next we had a game of mini golf which was pretty funny. I started out well but unfortunately Rob beat me by ONLY 4 strokes. It was good fun though and kept us entertained before dinner.
In the evening we went to the Casino. I am quite bad at "pokies" and have retired altogether from playing them. Rob was on a good roll at Black Jack. I kept cashing in his winnings periodically so he never lost more than he put in. We ended up $20 up! Not bad from a start of only $10. Rob was however only doing $5 bets at a time, some others on the table were putting on hundreds. I just can't justify risking loosing that much money. Madness.
We drove back to Christchurch the next day only as a stop off point. we were very tired from the 7 hour drive so just went to the cinema in the evening. In the morning we headed to our current destination.
We are hoping to see Whales tomorrow as we are doing a plane ride over the sea. It will all depend on the weather. Today we went on a wine tour. I had no clue what the lady was talking about but Rob seemed to enjoy himself. We had a go at tasting (again I don't know what I'm tasting - it's all the same to me). Bought some bottles of wine that only stay in the area and can't be bought elsewhere.
Tomorrow we leave for Hanmer Springs, where I have been told we are staying at a hotel for the night!!!!! I can't wait to sleep on a real bed. This is for my Valentines present that Rob has had planned for a while. I'm really looking forward toa break from the hippy mobile!!!!
Take Care and we'll update again soon
 Love
Jen & Rob
