Hi from country number three.
We are currently sitting in a little shop in Akaroa which doesn't really have much else. We picked up our 'hippy mobile' earlier today and it has already been good fun driving around the great country side. Yesterday we left Melbourne at 6am which meant we got up at 4 in the morning it was very painful!!! However Christchurch was very nice (despite spending little time there) and the first leg of our trip into the country has been superb. It is very oldy worldy like stepping back in time in England.
Since the last blog we met up with Daniel (for those who remember him), his mum (Ramon's sister) and his Nan. They took us to a Vietnamese restaurant which broke our no more Asain food rule but it was a nice one.
On Thursday we hired a car and drove some of the Great Ocean Road. Well Jen had to drive because I am too young that's what she gets for having a toy boy. The road was beautiful as were the sections of forest we saw however we did not see any koalas and from about 1 the heavens opened. The rain was awful we visited the tree walk but there was no point walking it the rain was simply too heavy. Instead we drove back to the city. It was a bit of a wash out all around but we would like to spend longer in the area if we ever visit Melbourne again.
On Friday we met with Neil and Lorraine who we met in China. They took us to a nice Italian then gave us a tour of the city. When we reached Albert Park Neil pulled over to let me drive the F1 circuit. However an unmarked police car was behind us and pulled us over. We were worried but Neil explained that us POMs wanted a drive and a typical Aussie way the copper simply said it was 'No Worries'. Only in Australia!!!
Finally on Saturday we went to an AFL game with Daniel and his mates. The game was Hawthorns v Essendon they were all Hawthorns fans. So naturally in the first quarter they were played off the park. However, every quarter from then on was won by Hawthorns I put it down to us understanding the rules it clearly spurred on the team.
We are still having problems with uploading the pics but will do a whole load when we get back to Caringbah.
As always we hope you are all well.
Rob and Jen
