Cappadocia, Turkey
Okay, where do I begin? I was meant to do this first blog entry around three and a half weeks ago, but due to exhaustive travel and perhaps a tad too much partying I have failed miserably. As a result this will have to be a quick summing up of an incredible first month of our journey, in which we've travelled from Bath Spa to Cappadocia, Turkey. We've gone from freezing cold to boiling hot (and back again) and we've seen snowy mountain peaks and gorgeous sandy beaches.
Nick and I set off from Bath Spa Station on April 6th with just a few bags to see us through the next year or so. Since then we've travelled through France, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Czech Republic (stopping in Prague), Austria (stopping in Vienna), Hungary (Budapest), Romania and Bulgaria... and now Turkey.
It's all been so varied that it almost feels like several different trips. Turkey has been great - we've been here for two weeks and have loved the landscapes, people and attractions. We've also felt the adrenaline pumping with a spot of paragliding over Oludeniz mountains and beach from 1800 metres - spectacular! Other highlights of Turkey include Istanbul (where we experienced naked Turkish massages - certainly not for the prudish), Anzac Day in Gallipoli, the ruins of Olympos and the eternal Chimera flames.
Truck life is good. The driving days can be long, but we've mastered the art of falling asleep as soon as the engine starts up.Â
Well, as lame as this entry has been I'll leave you now, as we have some more exploring of Cappadocia to do. More next time, for now take a look in the photo album at some of our pics...
