Hello people!
Como estas? My spanish is still fairly bad, I wish I could be fluent, would help a lot! Got the bus to Trujillo yesterday, 8 hours North of Lima! Fantastic scenery all the way up, sand dunes and big desolate mountain deserts! Pictures will have to come later when I can plug my camera in at home! I´ve been taking tons of photos believe me!
Arrived in Trujillo last night at about 9pm, found a taxi but for some reason wouldnt take me to any of the hotels I sked for, found a taxi driver who would, but it was shut, found out later it was being refurbished! Wandered around the streets in the dark tired and looking for somewhere to sleep! Found a place round the corner, paid the money and went to see the room; it was the most disgusting room I´ve ever seen in a hotel! I dont mind there being cockroaches or ants or that, but this room was coated in dirt, tiny box sized room with writing all over the walls and the plaster chipped off. The window wouldnt lock, only had a nail to turn around and the bed was just a sheet and thin blanket over a metal spring bed, those really old fashioned things, plus I could hear someone wretching down the hallway in the toilet! Urgh. I sat for a minut and then just got up and left the building jumped in a taxi and told him to take me to a hotel. Was an expensive one by my standards that he took me to and far from the centre, but was fairly clean and secure and I was tired. Was feeling really rubbish when I went to sleep last night, felt like going home!
This morning I met up with Connor a Spanish guy travelling on his own up North to and he had a similar experience, we decided to move to Huanchaco, a little beach town outside the city. I´m so glad we did! So much nicer her, my rooms lovely, the hotels lovely, nowhere near as noisy as the city, I have hot water and the staff are friendly!
Spent the rest of the morning walking along the beach looking at the red crabs scurrying away from us and found some reed beds that have been man made for making the Tortora reed boats, I have photos. The local fisherman use them to fish just off the shore and surf back into the shore wiht their catch! Really cool! This afternnoon Connor and I caught a microbus (like the trotros in Ghana, Nathalie) to Chan Chan this adobe temple complex in the desert! Was amazing!
So now gonna have a relaxing evening and have dinner and write my diary, probably have to visit the bathroom lots as my stomach isnt agreeing with th food! Never mind, I´ll survive!
Anyway, Take care, I´ll write soon!
