What can we say? We love Chiang Mai!! And we loved the overnight train. It took a bit longer than normal, roughly 15 hours. We heard that you should try and get a lower bunk for a more peaceful nights sleep, but all of these were taken so we had to take the cheaper option and sleep on top, underneath the ceiling lights that stayed on all night. Saturday we got up early to visit Ayutthaya, a city 1.5 hours north of Bangkok. After slipping on my bum in the bathroom and seriously damaging something, we had to run to the station to make the 7am train. So we get there and its queues galore. Luckily there was another lovely thai man at the station who saw we were in a pickle and led us to a kiosk without a queue! Hello!! First post from Bangkok :) We were dreading the 13 hour flight but it was actually pretty comfortable. Nice Indian-themed journey with Air India and a stop off in Mumbai, where I took my first excited steps on ground outide Europe.
