Enjoy very much all pics and blogs. You are having such an amazingly fantastic adventure. Everyone I have spoken to are loving reading everything you get up to. Been totally whacked out trying to do everything before we leave this afternoon. All 3 of us can't wait to get away - will seem like a blink compared to your break! Hope your money plants survive while we are away. By the way, got the job! Will catch up with your adventure when in Singapore. Love Mum xx :-)

your favela samba makes the Beaufort Terr street party sound a bit tame, plugs out at midnight etc. Though they did have quite a good Samba band that played for 15mins. Soak it all up!

Hi Jemma and Chales -
Really loving the blog. Wonderfully atmospheric and descriptve writing. It really reminded me of my travels to Brasil in 1986. I remember how surprised I was that so few people spoke English. The arrogance of we Brits!
So pleased you hooked up with Marcio, sounds like he found some good guinea pigs to practice his guide skills on. Try and get to the Maracana to experience the true culture of Brasil..... and bring back a Flamengo football shirt!
As I sit at the window watching another 18 bus snakes its way miserably down the Harrow Road, and a prospective client wonders about ringing our bell, I look forward to reading about more exciting adventures from the intrepid duo.
