Around the World Forever
El Nido is the first place Filipinos and other travelers are going to ask you about when you're in the Philippines. So I saved the best for last. The island hopping, swimming, and snorkeling is supposed to be outstanding here, some of the best in the country. And it did not disappoint. The place is stunning and there are several boat tours heading out to different parts of the Bacuit Archipelago. I did tours A and C and there is a B and D tour as well as lots of SCUBA diving businesses too. I have so many photos from at least three different cameras that I didn't bother to edit so much. So everything is just put out there as is.
One of the highlights in town that doesn't seem to receive too much attention is the hike up to the viewpoint over the simple, bayside town of El Nido. What no one is talking about is that it is so NOT a hike in the traditional sense. Sure there's a path (sort of) but it's more of a rock climbing scramble over razor sharp limestone rocks and it's a lot more dangerous than I was expecting. Good shoes are a must, even though our guide wore flip flops. And without a guide, I don't think you would find your way. Word on the street is someone died doing this last month but who knows. In the end, the view is spectacular and so worth it. Coming down is actually more difficult than going up, especially when you feel your leg muscles start to shake and turn to mush from all the effort required to control your climbing and, you know, avoid death. So that was fun.
This is my last stop in the Philippines except for a one night stop back in Manila to catch a flight to Thailand the next day. It's more fun in the Philippines and I STILL have not seen or done that much. There's 7,107 islands here. I'll be back....

kembo1962 Looking good bro! Eager to hear about your escapades when you return...k
jethro15 Looks like El Nido is a lot more crowded than when I was there 5 years ago. Unfortunately people have found it.
