We're back in Salta now, when we should really be in Chile, but these things happen! We thoroughly enjoyed our last day in the 4x4, we visited the Salt Flats, and took some wacky pictures, then we stopped at a village high in the Andes for lunch. I'm not saying the village was grim, but it made Blaenau Ffestiniog look beautiful! We were the only tourists in town, and word soon got around, the souvenir sellers scoured the village 'till they found us. To be fair, as it consisted of three streets, and two restaurants, not much 'scouring' was required!
Our guide told us more stories, his tales were usually about which famous footballers are gay, or stupid 'Porteño' (Buenos Airean) tourists coming a cropper in the wilderness. His list of people he didn't like would seem to be; Porteños, gays, and Americans (especially Republicans)!
It's currently quite cool in Salta, and Sal got more funny looks 'cos she was wearing sandals again. Hopefully after our stop-over in Buenos Aires, the weather will get warmer as we head to (fingers crossed) sunnier climes, the last chance to top up our tans before we head back home!
We felt a little bit homesick last night, as we followed the Glastonbury coverage on Twitter (yes, we KNOW we're sad), U2 and Coldplay were the best or worst bands in the world, according to our twitter-feeds, but the Chemical Brothers received almost unanimous praise. They're on at Creamfields too, hmmmm!
So it's back to BA later, just for one night, before we head to Iguazu Falls, on the Argentina/Brazil border, for spectacular water-fall fun, rain-forest japes, and bird-watching excitement!
