G-day Mates!
It has been an interesting journey the last few days. I am now in Auckland where the weather is sunny ans warm (75F). I have encountered a dental problem - a fractrured tooth - along the way. I have NO idea how that happened unless i did while rollingover on the beach in Fiji.
I truly enjoyed everything about FIJI. The bus tour that I took - the Feejee Experience - was amazing. I did a hike through the fiji rainforest, did soem tubing downt he river to play in some waterfalls, took rides though the most rural of fiji locales, had a kava (local drink) ceremony with a village chief and hios sons (next in line for power) and then off to the river to play volleyball keep away with the group, teh chief, and his sons. It was exhilirating!
Later that day we went to a village primary school where things are quite primative. I talked with a teacher there and I hope to put together a drive to help her and her kids get some much needed books and supplies.
The people of Fiji are so incredble, happy, warm, delightful, happy. They mostly own their land and the houses on it - and there are no large SUVs!
I amexploring Auckland as I am only here for 1 week and then off to Sydney. I am finding the youth hostel environment to be a bit loud and party-filled. I am currently looking to make a move to a quieter part of town.
I am having a blast, getting ready to lose a tooth, meeting great people, learning alot about local culture (off to some caves and village visit tomorrow south of Auckland), and relaxing a lot. What more could I ask for?
I hope each of you are well. I do have some pictures!
Be well,
Jeff
