Campinos: Tasty, yet ineffective
Hey everyone!
Your favourite Jedi here just letting you know that I have arrived safe and sound in Bangkok, Thailand.
Twas indeed a long flight and my ears are still popping free of the blockage they incurred through the flight. And, no - campinos aren't helpful in preventing this. I bet I'm gonna go through tonnes of different sweets to find the best one for preventing 'ear popping' - any recommendations welcome.
Everything was cool apart from me having my sun cream and mozzy lotion taken away from me in London due to new regulations for hand-luggage. Thing is, I knew those regulations but forgot about those two lotions. Luckily, I got spares in my main luggage.
Arriving in Bangkok was crazy. Waited about 30 minutes for my luggage to come through baggage check (not the crazy bit) and then had a barrage of taxi drivers trying to offer me a taxi. I guess I did have a bit of a lost look on my face. At one point, two people working for the same company even had their arm around me as they walked to their taxi offering 520 Baht (Just under 10 quid) for the 45 min ride to my hotel. I was excited by the fact that this was actually happening like people said it does! I nonethless declined and got a bus for 150 Bahts (2.50).
Finding my way from the bus top was a trek and I chatted to loads of locals (all of whom speak English!) and then met one guy who was very helpful and taught me some Thai (which I have since forgotten).
Anyway, I'm settled into my hotel and plan to do some shopping tomorrow and visit some sights. Will keep you updated as always. Can't chat for longer as my hour for 30 Bahts is running out!
Take it easy and may the Force be with you always,
Darryl
