Sammy gets on her bike; or not!!!
One sunny evening in idyllic Paihia we decided to take advantage of the free push bikes on offer at our hostel. I had planned of cycling to the next town in the bay but these were dashed when i learnt that Sam cant ride a bike. Of course she will be quite adament in her denial of this embarrasing misfortune but yes its true there is something Sam is not good at (two things if we count tennis!)
Looking back i cannot picture her on a bike ever! - except that of the static ones in the gym! Maybe the miracle baby that walked at 9 months never learnt?
So with helmets on and armed with our blue and white bikes we set off down the road. Halfway down mid sentence i realised id been talking to myself as Sam was still in the driveway .
" Whats wrong?" "I dont like it the brakes dont work as she scuffed her toes trying to stop herself from crashing into the parked cars!" So on i hopped to prove her wrong "its fine" i said as i returned to my bike. Looking slightly bemused she tried again "Theres something wrong with it , i just dont like it!" "im not in control of it its taking me for a ride!". She reminded me of the irish guy in Thailand who ran us over on his moped! God help the roads if sam gets a scooter licence!
Statement from sam
Firstly i can ride a bike i was taught on the lanes of Poulshot at a young age and secondly what jessica didnt realise that was when i followed her on to the road all i saw infront were break lights of cars passing as she obliviously weaved in and out of the road. It was hilarious and i havnt laughed so much in a while- it was an experience to say the least .
