Hi, Leanne! Konichiwa - an that! We're just back shattered from a day at a national park: saw lakes Shikotsu and Toya, an active volcano (Usu) and some of the most fabulous scenery - from a cablecar. I'm so glad we got a guide/driver for this place - we would never have been able to do it ourselves. Craig had a complete flaky when a kamemushi (a stink bug) got into the car - what a wuss - he's a total phobic with insects - gives me the chance to take the p***!
We're off to Hong Kong tomorrow afternoon, so just thinking about packing after we have something to eat. We've only got a couple of days there and I've already booked us 2 tours, one a half day intro to the city and a full day visiting the main highlights. I'd like to get Craig fitted for a suit - you know how they can do that overnight? - but we can junk the full day tour halfway through if we need to. I'm hoping the hotel can send us to the right place for the suit. We had a real laugh in Tokyo trying to figure out the metro there, so I can't see us managing to do it in HK!

Hi Jean and Craig, thought we would cover everything and put in a message as well as a blog. Hope you have a fantastic time in the Far East once you have rested from your long flight to Tokyo. Enjoy each day as it comes.

Great to read everybody's comments. We're not posting as many blog messages as we'd like - there's no time! But we'll get the photos up to date as soon as we can.
@Gillian - we loved Universal Studis but needed more time there - the studio tour was brilliant - very good special effects - scary having King Kong dancing on the roof of your tour bus!
@Lorna - Craig just loved NY but I found it all a bit overwhelming. Much preferred the west coast - laid back and relaxed - my idea of a good time!

Well thats the first part of your trip you will be looking forward to the far east. Looked like you both had a great time in L.A. SAN FRISCO and the big apple.

Hi Jean and Craig,
Really enjoying your updates and your photographs! I just had a look at your Universal studios photos - we had a great day there in the summer. I was brave enough to go on The Mummy, but not brave enugh to go on Jurassic Park - hope you were both braver than me!
It looks like you are having the trip of lifetime right enough - looking forward to the next sets of pics!

Hi, Linda - Jean here. Craig has just posted a blog entry and mentions the kids at Ochiltree and where we're off to tomorrow is LA. If you go to the front page of the blog and hit the map, it will show you our route round the northern hemisphere. Basically, it's USA, then Japan (Tokyo, Mt Fuji and then Sapporo on the north island of Hokkaido), then Hong Kong, Singapore, India (New Delhi, Agra and Jaipur) and finally Kathmandu in Nepal - and home (New Delhi to London and then Glasgow) on 15 October! I can't upload photos from my camera cos it saves things in raw and I don't have the software here, but Craig's camera saves jpegs, so he'll try to upload photos as soon as we can.
Thanks to everybody for their good wishes - we're trying very hard to enjoy ourselves! Jean

Hello,
I work at Ochiltree Primary School and teach Primary 6/7 on a Thursday and Friday. The class and I are going to be tracking your trip around the world and learning more about the countries that you will be visiting. Where are you going after California? Hope you have a safe journey and look forward to your updates.
