Drove from Santa Fe to Taos through the scenic route - fab scenery.
Taos itself is in a very special location and is really laid back - it used to have lots of hippy communes and still has that vibe although the plaza is quite commercial.
Had great al fresco lunch at Doc Martins at The Old Taos Inn.
After town we went up to Taos Pueblo which is still inhabited and has no water or electricity. What a location! It is really beautiful with a running stream right through the middle. Houses of course are very basic. Had local cookie.
Continued on the Enchanted Circle up to Eagle Nest and went to a really fab saloon for restroom and coffee. The barmaids was great and showed us upstairs which was a traditional old gambling saloon and brothel in the day it was a gold mining town. The rooms were preserved as they were back then - it was just like being in a Western movie.
