Tuesday, November 10, 2009 Rome to Paris
Left The Beehive at what I thought was a reasonable time, but managed to miss the train to the airport anyway. No matter, they have one every half hour. I must say this about Italy - when the trains run, they run on time!
Got to the airport and went in search of the AirFran…
Hi Friends and Family!
Not my first trip by any means, but my first online travel journal. Hope the combo of journaling, photos and map gives you a sense of what I am experiencing. Have no idea how often I will keep this up, but hope to update you regularly.
The plan: fly into Venice, fly out of Rome 30 days later. In between ? Not sure. Traveling solo, as usual. Without a script, as usual. Will stay at hostels, maybe a B&B, also hope to meet people thru Couchsurfing.org and Hos…

There is a lot to see and do (and eat!) in Italy, and I hope to get everything in while keeping a relaxed pace.

Hi Jeanne, Hopefully, you are feeling better by now. At the end of your last blog, you said check out yoiur pictures on flicker. How do I get there? By the way, I have a pasta maker you can use when you get back, easier than hand rolling out the dough by hand . : )

Sorry to hear you weren't feeling well.
Some tech support advice :)
Don't worry about rotating pictures before posting them. You can always do that when you get back. The software may even auto-rotate them if your camera has a sensor in it like mine does.
As far as uploading the files onto flickr:
- you can download multiple files at a time. When it comes up with the file selection, even though it looks like a normal single file selection, you can select multiple files. I started uploading files on flickr 15 minutes ago and I have 61% of 140 files taking up 1.1 GB done while I was reading your blog. Be sure to check the screen after to make sure it uploaded all of them. flickr only allows 30 second videos I think, so you would not want to delete those off the memory you carry.
If you end up with duplicates posted (I did on my big trip), well, you are on vacation, and again you can fix it when you get back.
When you do get back, be VERY careful about plugging the memory stick in - Italy is notorious for compromised computers with viruses on them. You may have a virus on the memory stick. - Which should not matter for the pictures or the camera, so worry about it when you get back.

Hi Jeanne,
Good luck on your trip--strange,one Blog contacting another blog,Eh?
Can't help you with contacts(as if you'd need them!!) as have never been there--in fact, haven't travelled much in Europe at all(shame on me).
Nearly halfway through my trip--it's gone so fast.Having to stay put in PadangBai,Bali 'cos of a bit of an ear infection(surprise,surprise--50 plus dives in a month can do that,Eh?).
Anyway, nearly taking over your Blog,there---sorry!! Hope you really enjoy it--not certain how often I'll get to read it before going home,though--Internet is not good in Indonesia,
Best of Luck,
Alec.

We were last in Venice a couple of years ago in July. It was like Disney (hot and crowded). I'll look forward to following your journey. I hope you have a wonderful time. Italy is a beautiful country!!
