Hi there!
Since my last entry there has been so much going on! Each day brings new things, excitement, surprises and as I have just realised this morning, BED BUGS! Jazzy braced the cold and stripped off this morning to hop in the shower. Whilst I was admiring my stunning figure (???) in the mirror, I realised I was covered in swollen and unsightly red lumps!! Naturally, I went into panic mode-called Tim on his mob whilst he was out having coffee, "Babe you simply must come home immediately, I have a rash taking over my body!! Most likely maninja cochel?? Scabies or even shingles perhaps??" So Tim comes home and after baring my welted body to him says, "Well I'm pretty sure something has bitten you, it's not a rash." So relieved and sulking, I trot off to the pharmacy who confirms I have had evil little repulsive creatures feasting on my skin in the night and that the bites can take up to 9 days to come out. We leave with a dose of antihistamine and a slightly wounded spirit.
So there you have it, first hostel visit ever and I leave scratching!!
Despite the itching though, we have had a very pleasurable few days. Lots of wining and dining, perhaps a little too much of both! We visited the food markets in the City, Tatum you would die.. It had the most amazing cheeses, meats, deserts, sweets and wait for it Fletcher… BUTTER! Emma and Benny bought salted butter that is so very divine you can spread it like cream cheese-which of course we did! So with a tummy full of chocolate moose and a grilled haloumi burger, off we trotted to London Bridge. It was rather tricky to admire and appreciate the coolness of it as we were standing on it! So I guess you could say, it wasn't a highlight.
Tim has had a bout of hay fever like I have never seen before. He spent the entire day yesterday at home in my bed (his bed is the couch!) whilst we went off to Hyde Park-not exactly the best place to be with raging hay fever!! So I left him with an icepack on his very sad face, dosed up on antihistamine and with lots of blankets! Hyde Park was gorgeous, we sat in the middle of the park in the sunshine-yes London has sunshine! As I write that though, it is pouring this afternoon! We also went to Speaker's Corner at Hyde Park. It's a place where anybody who wants to be heard, stands up on a box and yells at passers by. If you're interesting, a crowd gathers in front of you. You can talk about anything from Religion to celebrities. A lone man was standing on a chair with a bible, eyes closed, head tilted into the sun, and singing in the most monotone and dull voice we had ever heard. We were impressed however, listening to a free style rapper doin his thang on a box! That was entertaining! Apparently this has been going on since the 1880's - well we've ticked that box!!
We had Chinese last night and watched Australia get hammered. The food was so yummy though that we were hardly aware of the loss (us girls anyway!) we had ginger beers at the pub for desert and headed home for an early night as the poor workers in the crew, not us! Had to go to work this morning.
As I am sure everyone is aware, the World Cup started! A HUGE deal here in the UK & Europe. Benny decided that we had to watch the first game at the Walkabout, which is part of a chain of Australian Pubs here in England. Well, wasn't that an experience! When stepping through the door of the pub, if it wasn't the sheer volume of yelling that knocked you out, it was either the heat or the stench! We were very keen to hit the bar ASAP but this proved rather difficult! Not only did you have to fight your way through drunken English boys, or even worse, drunken Australian boys! The floor was so thick with filth, your shoes stuck to the floor. Invisible glue bound my poor little ballet slippers to the floor-they have sure got a workout this trip! Another attractive feature of the pub, was the very over weight girl in bikinis?? T'was very odd. Having said all this, it's amazing how a few beverages can turn a hole into a hoot! We had a very fun night, durgy music soon sounded epic and the dance floor certainly got a workout. Benny became Michael Jackson and Tim gave Justin Bieber a run for his money!
Catch up with ya later! xx
