Our first stop of the day had to be Scotland's biggest attraction, Edinburgh Castle. We made our way up the Royal Mile from our hostel, looking through the windows of all the little shops along the way until we finally made it to the top of the mile and the castle. Inside the castle walls there's a number of museums and sights, like the Crown Jewels of Scotland and St Margaret's Chapel (the oldest building in Edinburgh). We ended up spending almost 4 hours looking at it all and by the time we left most of the museums and attractions were already closed. We grabbed a late lunch at The Baked Potato Shop, which serves them up with delicious vegetarian fillings (I chose the veggie curry). We browsed the shops on the Royal Mile a bit more before heading back to our hostel to relax for an hour or so. Afterwards I convinced my mom to go with me over to Calton Hill, a public park to the northeast of the area we were staying that has the National Monument and the City Observatory. The view of Edinburgh from the top of the hill was great, so we enjoyed a walk around before heading back to our hostel. We have big plans for tomorrow morning so we just had a pint in the bar and called it a night!
