Myles is really into climbing so the first thing we did today was head to a climbing gym where we met some of his friends. The routes in the gym go up into these 60 meter silos (nearly 200 feet!) so even the easiest routes were exhausting. After a couple hours of climbing and bouldering we were beat. It was a beautiful day out so we went to the English Gardens next and took a dip in the river before relaxing in the grass with hundreds of other sunbathers. Nude sunbathing is legal so there was the occasional shock of a naked guy popping out of the water near us. Myles took me to Marienplatz next, which is the main square in the center of town. He pointed out Frauenkirche with its onion-domed towers and the New Town Hall which has the famous Glockenspiel on its front before we went to a massive outdoor recreation store and spent an hour or so looking at some incredible climbing books. One of Myles' friends, Louis, was having a birthday barbeque tonight so we grabbed beers and bratwurst and were on the metro heading to his house when we ran into some other friends of Myles bound for the party. We walked the rest of the way together, everyone hauling heavy bags of beer and chatting merrily. The rest of the night was spent much like the last, eating barbecued bratwurst, drinking beer and chatting. Eventually Myles and I and a group of his friends caught the bus back to the station and the metro home. But the day was not over yet, to be continued in tomorrow's post!
